Around the Horn on Obesity Management: Identifying Real World Solutions to Long-Term Challenges

April 14 @ 6:00 pm 7:00 pm

Program Overview
This activity is provided by Integrity CE, LLC.
This activity is hosted in partnership with the Colorado, Idaho, and Louisiana chapters of the American Academy of Family Physicians.

In the United States, overweight and obesity are highly prevalent, with 70% of American adults affected by either condition. Overweight and obesity are associated with multiple potential medical complications, including metabolic-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), osteoarthritis, obstructive sleep apnea, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular complications, among others. Recognition of the potential complications of overweight and obesity, along with respectful, nonstigmatizing discussion and implementation of novel management strategies, are crucial to improving outcomes for patients.

Join Javier Morales, MD, FACP, FACE, Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, and colleagues for a CME-accredited activity on diagnosis, management, and respectful discussion of the medical implications of overweight and obesity.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this educational activity, participants should be able to:

  • Summarize best practices for discussing overweight and obesity with patients in a respectful and nonstigmatizing manner
  • Recognize the burdens of overweight and obesity and related co-morbidities
  • Evaluate the role of current and emerging pharmacotherapy along with lifestyle change in development of comprehensive treatment plans for patients
