SUMMARY:Around the Horn on Obesity Management: Identifying Real World Solutions to Long-Term Challenges
DESCRIPTION:Program OverviewThis activity is provided by Integrity CE\, LLC.This activity is hosted in partnership with the Colorado\, Idaho\, and Louisiana chapters of the American Academy of Family Physicians. \n\n\n\nIn the United States\, overweight and obesity are highly prevalent\, with 70% of American adults affected by either condition. Overweight and obesity are associated with multiple potential medical complications\, including metabolic-associated steatohepatitis (MASH)\, osteoarthritis\, obstructive sleep apnea\, type 2 diabetes\, and cardiovascular complications\, among others. Recognition of the potential complications of overweight and obesity\, along with respectful\, nonstigmatizing discussion and implementation of novel management strategies\, are crucial to improving outcomes for patients.  \n\n\n\nJoin Javier Morales\, MD\, FACP\, FACE\, Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell\, and colleagues for a CME-accredited activity on diagnosis\, management\, and respectful discussion of the medical implications of overweight and obesity. \n\n\n\nLearning ObjectivesUpon completion of this educational activity\, participants should be able to: \n\n\n\n\nSummarize best practices for discussing overweight and obesity with patients in a respectful and nonstigmatizing manner \n\n\n\nRecognize the burdens of overweight and obesity and related co-morbidities \n\n\n\nEvaluate the role of current and emerging pharmacotherapy along with lifestyle change in development of comprehensive treatment plans for patients

SUMMARY:Diabetes Knowledge Self Assessment
DESCRIPTION:Diabetes KSA at the Annual Summit in Colorado Springs \n\n\n\nThe Diabetes ABFM-developed KSA activity focuses on preventing and diagnosing diabetes mellitus\, recognizing the clinical implications of insulin-resistance syndromes\, recognizing and managing microvascular complications of diabetes mellitus\, managing diabetic ketoacidosis and non-ketotic hyperosmolar coma\, nonpharmacologic management of diabetes mellitus\, and pharmacologic management of diabetes mellitus.  \n\n\n\nLearning Objectives: \n\n\n\nAfter successful completion of the Diabetes KSA\, the physician will have been exposed to up-to-date content as it relates to hospitalized patients and have an opportunity to close knowledge gaps that existed prior to participation in the Diabetes KSA activity.  \n\n\n\n\n1.
